155 REDETERMINATION SR 05-11, 05/05 (AAM-A)

Redetermine eligibility for all individuals at regularly scheduled intervals.

Schedule redeterminations at least every 12 months. See PART 127, LENGTH OF ELIGIBILITY.

Review and verify all eligibility factors and criteria subject to change. Update eligibility and benefits, as necessary.

If the case involves multiple programs of assistance, redetermination periods for all programs are aligned to coincide with the most frequent redetermination required by policy. See Family Assistance Manual PART 161 REDETERMINATION/ RECERTIFICATION, and Food Stamp Manual Section 133.09, Certification Periods, for additional information on redeterminations/recertifications involving other programs of assistance.

12-Month Redetermination/Recertification

The following cases are redetermined via the mail-in redetermination/recertification process at 12-month intervals:

• adult categories of financial or medical assistance, with or without food stamps, and with all AP/MA and FS case sizes equal;

• QMB, QDWI, SLMB, and SLMB135 with or without food stamps; and

• Nursing Facility Care.

6-Month Redetermination/Recertification

Adult categories of financial or medical assistance with food stamps, and with unequal AP/MA and FS case sizes, are redetermined via the mail-in redetermination/recertification process for the first 6-month redetermination/recertification; the next redetermination/recertification is conducted via the face-to-face redetermination process.

Continue this alternating method of redetermination/recertification as long as the assistance group remains eligible for benefits.

In and Out Medical Assistance

In and Out Medical Assistance, with or without food stamps, is redetermined via the mail-in redetermination process at the end of the estimated end-date of eligibility.
