213 SPECIFIED LOW-INCOME MEDICARE BENEFICIARY, SLMB135, AND SLMB175 SR 99-18, 05/99 (AAM-A)

The Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary programs (SLMB, SLMB135, and SLMB175) provide limited medical assistance coverage to help certain individuals pay their Medicare Part B (supplemental insurance) premium and premium penalties for late enrollment.

• SLMB and SLMB135 provide full payment of the Medicare Part B premium to eligible individuals.

• SLMB175 provides direct payment of the portion of the Medicare Part B premium that is designated for home health services. When an individual is determined eligible for SLMB175, the individual will receive a one-time payment of the partial premium for the number of months in the calendar year for which he or she is SLMB175 eligible.

To be eligible for assistance under SLMB, SLMB135, or SLMB175 an individual must be entitled to Medicare Part B insurance as determined by the Social Security Administration (SSA).

SLMB medical assistance is determined without regard to eligibility for any other public assistance program.

SLMB135 and SLMB175 medical assistance recipients may not be otherwise eligible for Medicaid, including Medicaid In and Out.
