MEAD PROTECTED EARNED INCOME (EI) RESOURCES SR 02-04, 02/02 (AAM-A)

MEAD protected earned Income (EI) resources are liquid resources, including interest earned by the resources, accumulated solely from earnings by a MEAD-eligible individual while on MEAD and kept in a separate account from other liquid resources.

Treatment: Excluded Resource when determining future medical assistance eligibility for non-MEAD adult category medical assistance provided the resource is kept in a separate account and not co-mingled with any other funds. If deposits are made after MEAD eligibility ends, or during the MEAD-eligible individual’s 12 month period of unemployment, the account is counted as a resource.
