MEAD PROTECTED EARNED INCOME (EI) RESOURCES SR 05-22, 05/05 (AAM-A)

MEAD Protected Earned Income (EI) Resources are liquid resources, including interest earned by the resources, accumulated solely from earnings by a MEAD-eligible individual while on MEAD and kept in a separate account from other liquid resources.

Treatment:

• A countable resource for recipients of MEAD.

• Exclude the account for the first six months of eligibility for non-MEAD adult category medical assistance provided the resource is kept in a separate account and not mixed with any other funds.

• Count any funds in the account beginning the 7th month of receiving non-MEAD adult category medical assistance.

Exception: Count all Protected EI Resources if deposits are made after MEAD eligibility ends, or during the MEAD-eligible individual’s MEAD extension due to unemployment.
