624.01 HCBC-ABD Financial Assistance SR 96-16, 03/96 (AAM-A)

Individuals with an acquired brain disorder (ABD) may be eligible for OAA, ANB or APTD financial assistance. See Parts 205, Old Age Assistance, 207, Aid to the Needy Blind, and 209, Aid to the Permanently and Totally Disabled. * Use the following steps to determine if the individual is income-eligible:

1. Subtract the following from the individuals gross earned income:

- earned income disregard (EID) for APTD cases, and

- employment expense disregard (EED) for OAA and ANB cases. *

The result is the individuals net earned income.

2. Add the countable gross unearned income to total net earned income calculated in Step 1.

3. Subtract the adult standard disregard.

4. Subtract any allowable deductions. See Part 605, Deductions.

The result is the case net income.

5. Compare net income to the appropriate income limit.

See Part 617, Grant Determination, when net income is equal to or below the financial assistance income limits.
