109.01 Filing an Application (FAM) |

The official Filing Date for applications for Financial Assistance to Needy Families (FANF) is the date when the application is completed and received by the department, during business hours on a day the office is open. If received after hours or on a day when the office is closed for business, the official filing date of the application is the next day the department is open for business.
Individuals have the right to file an application on the same day they contact the District Office. Individuals are directed to the NH EASY or the DHHS websites to apply for assistance or the individual will be given BFA Form 800, Application for Assistance.
Applications can be submitted:
• online via the NH EASY website;
• Face-to-face at the District Office;
• via mail-in; or
• through a voice recorded signature captured by the department.
Face-to-face eligibility interviews are conducted in person at the District Office.
A completed application for FANF assistance must at minimum, contain the individual’s:
• name;
• address;
• signature, or the signature of an authorized representative (AR) acting on behalf of the applicant; and
• Indicate which program(s) of assistance they are requesting.
Exception: When a resident of an institution applies for assistance prior to leaving the institution, the filing date of the application is the date the applicant is released from the institution.
