ROOMER INCOME (FAM) |
Previous Policy |
___________________________________________________________
Payments made by an individual who is provided room but not food and is living in the assistance group’s home. Roomer income is considered rental income, but is treated differently.
Treatment: Unearned Income
Treat roomer income as unearned income even if it is the result of a bona fide business or an informal arrangement. Reduce the roomer income according to one of the following formulas:
• a flat rate of $50 per month for each renter, or
• the actual verified expenses, if higher.
