613 Grant Determination (FAM)

SR 22-24 Dated 08/22

Previous Policy

___________________________________________________________

Once the assistance group has been found eligible, and the net income has been subtracted from the payment standard (see Section 601, Table A, FANF Basic Maintenance Needs Allowance and Maximum Standard of Need for more information), if the amount of the monthly FANF grant:

Example

A FANF household’s net monthly income is $300.75; this net income is compared to the Payment Standard for this HH size – for this example the payment standard for this HH of 3 is $1151 (7/2022).

$1151 (payment standard) – $300.75 (net income) = $850.25 as the monthly FANF grant before rounding.

Using the above rounding procedure, the .25 cents would be dropped leaving the monthly grant as $850.

The monthly FANF grant is distributed to the household in 2 equal payments during the month (see Section 615, BENEFITS DETERMINATION, FREQUENCY, AND ISSUANCE for more information).  For this example the household would receive $425 for each payroll period ($425 x 2 payroll periods= $850 FANF monthly grant).

The minimum authorized monthly FANF grant amount before any adjustments must be equal to $10 or more. No payment is made if the amount of the FANF grant before any adjustments is less than $10.

Example

An applicant applies for FANF cash assistance and is eligible for a monthly FANF grant of $8.00, before any adjustments are applied. No benefit amount for FANF financial assistance will be issued as the FANF grant amount before any adjustments is less than $10.00.

If the monthly FANF grant prior to adjustments is equal to $10 or more, and the monthly FANF grant after adjustments is greater than $2.00, then the FANF grant will be issued to the recipient.

Example

An applicant has been found eligible for FANF with a monthly grant of $20.00. The Household was overpaid FANF in the past and owes for a recoupment. The applicant had agreed to a recoupment with the department of $15.00 a month from their monthly FANF grant, leaving a monthly grant amount after adjustment of $5.00. Since the grant prior to adjustments was equal to $10 or more, and the grant after adjustments is greater than $0.00,the applicant will be eligible for a $5.00 monthly FANF grant.

The ongoing monthly FANF grant after adjustments is then provided to the recipient in 2 equal payments during the month (see Section 615, BENEFITS DETERMINATION, FREQUENCY, AND ISSUANCE for more information).  For this example the recipient would receive $2.50 for each payroll period. ($2.50 x 2 payroll periods in a month = $5 FANF monthly grant).
