The New Hampshire Employment Program (NHEP) is a mandatory work program for financial assistance to needy families (FANF). NHEP provides services to families to help break the cycle of poverty by encouraging economic mobility. NHEP focuses on a variety of services to participants including obtaining a high school certificate, industry specific training, post-secondary education, employability skills, training and work experience opportunities in order to prepare for industry specific employment.
NHEP provides services to its participants with a direct focus on workforce development. NHEP helps to close skill gaps by ensuring job seekers obtain and increase competencies as well as earn the credentials that businesses require for jobs in demand.
NHEP promotes the upskilling of employees to increase their eligibility for higher positions. The program builds a skilled pipeline of qualified employees to meet the needs of NH businesses. NHEP helps participants promote self-confidence and the competence necessary for individuals to job search and advocate for their employment needs now and in the future.
Workforce Development Service areas of focus at NHEP:
• High school credential attainment;
• Career exploration and identification;
• Training/credential attainment-licensures and apprenticeship programs;
• Completion of a portfolio;
• Participation in a work experience program; and
• Career ladder employment.
NHEP offers employment related support services based on activities that include:
• Child care assistance;
• Transportation reimbursement and auto repair;
• Tuition assistance for a variety of educational programs;
• Worker or training supports such as tools of the trade, uniforms, books or other needed supplies; and
• Services to remove employment or training obstacles.
