The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Bureau of Family Assistance (BFA), administers public assistance programs in accordance with state law, state administrative rules, and federal laws and regulations.
This manual contains official BFA policy governing the administration of the following categories and programs:
• New Hampshire Employment Program (NHEP);
• Family Assistance Program (FAP);
• Families with Older Children (FWOC);
• Interim Disabled Parent (IDP);
• Nutritional Supplement for Working Families (NSWF);
• Employment and Training Support Services (ETS);
• Emergency Assistance - financial assistance and services for families experiencing a crisis; and
• Child Care - financial reimbursement assistance for families requiring child care due to participation in employment, training, or educational activities.
BFA also administers other programs providing:
• Financial assistance for the elderly, blind, and disabled - See the Adult Assistance Manual;
• Medicaid and medical assistance services, such as long-term care - See Medical Assistance Manual; and
• Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) - See the Food Stamp Manual.
