134.05 Requirements for Two Parent Families SR 06-12, 10/06 (FAM-A)

Whenever a 2-parent assistance group is requesting a hardship extension to the 60-month state lifetime limit, the following applies:

• If both parents in the assistance group have received UP and/or TANF financial assistance for 54 or more months on the day the assistance group signs the official request for an extension, both parents must meet one or more of the hardship specified in Section 134.03, Specified Hardship Criteria;

• If one parent has received UP and/or TANF financial assistance for 54 or more months and the other parent has received UP and/or TANF financial assistance for less than 54 months on the day the assistance group signs the official request for an extension, only the parent who has received UP and/or TANF financial assistance for 54 or more months must meet a hardship criterion; and

• If the other parent described in bullet 2 above exceeds 54 months of receipt of UP and/or TANF financial assistance during a 6-month extension period, the assistance group may continue to receive TANF/UP financial assistance for the entire 6-month extension period based on one parent meeting one or more hardship criteria. When the 6-month extension period ends, each parent must meet one or more of the specified hardship criteria if the assistance group requests an additional extension.
