161.01 Timely Notice SR 98-29, 06/98 (FAM-A)

Inform each individual of the need for a redetermination in order for benefits to be continued.

Notify individuals that they are required to participate in a face-to-face interview Redetermination/Recertification or Mail Redetermination based on their household’s circumstances.

Face-to-face Interview Redetermination/Recertification

Use Form 807, Interview Appointment Notice, to notify individuals required to participate in a face-to-face interview Redetermination/Recertification. Form 807 advises the individual:

• That an eligibility interview has been scheduled for them;

• That they must call if they are unable to attend and wish to continue receiving benefits; and

• The effect their failure to attend may have on their benefits.

Send Form 807 to the individual in the month prior to the month the redetermination is scheduled.

Mail Redeterminations

Individuals participating in a Mail Redetermination must be granted a face-to-face interview if one is requested by the household or by the authorized representative.

The appropriate Mail Redetermination package will be sent to eligible cases by the 15th of the month prior to the month the redetermination/recertification is due.

Individuals receiving KidsCare PLUS Medical Coverage or medical coverage as a poverty level pregnant woman, with or without child care, are eligible to participate in the Mail Redetermination process.

Children with Severe Disabilities (CSD) are not eligible to participate in the mail-in redetermination process.

Exception: Children with Severe Disabilities - Home Care (CSD-HC), also known as "Katie Beckett," recipients are eligible to participate in the mail-in redetermination process unless they also receive food stamps.

Notification to cases that are going to be participating in the Mail Redetermination Process is accomplished when the following is sent:

• Form 800R(PL), Application For Redetermining Eligibility For Assistance,

• Form 800C(PL), Cover Letter For Form 800R(PL),

• a flimsy and

• a business reply pre-paid postage envelope.
