161 REDETERMINATION/RECERTIFICATION SR 12-22, 04/12 (FAM-A)

Financial and medical assistance is determined for a specific period of time called the eligibility period. At the end of the eligibility period, benefits continue to be issued automatically until action is taken to terminate assistance.

Redetermine/recertify eligibility for all individuals at regularly scheduled intervals. The longest eligibility period is 12 months.

Review individuals more frequently than indicated below when either of the following occurs:

. there is a change in case circumstances that affects other eligibility factors; or

. there is conflicting information regarding eligibility.

Review and prove all eligibility factors and criteria that are subject to change. Update eligibility and benefits as necessary. See the rest of this PART for additional information.

If the case involves multiple programs of assistance, redetermination periods for all programs are aligned to coincide with the most frequent redetermination required by policy (see Adult Assistance Manual PART 155, REDETERMINATION, and Food Stamp Manual Section 133.09, Certification Periods).
