221.03 Continuation of Medical Assistance Following Pregnancy SR 08-16, 10/08 (FAM-A)

If the pregnant woman is eligible for and receiving medical assistance on the day her pregnancy ends, continue her medical assistance for 60 days post-partum without regard to any other eligibility criteria. Terminate 60-day post-partum medical assistance on the last day of the month in which the 60th day falls.

If the pregnant woman is eligible for and receiving medical assistance on the day her child is born, continue medical assistance for the newborn for up to 12 months from the babys birth, as long as:

• the hospital or mother verified at the time of the newborns birth that the child would be living with the mother following the childs birth; and

• one of the following applies:

- the mother completes the redetermination process and remains eligible for medical assistance or would be eligible if she were pregnant; or

- the mother fails or refuses to complete the redetermination process.
