223 CHILDREN WITH SEVERE DISABILITIES SR 97-09, 03/97 (FAM-A)

Severely disabled children who meet the TANF medical assistance program criteria may be eligible for TANF-related medical assistance under the Children with Severe Disabilities (CSD) coverage group. CSD do not have to meet the specific TANF requirements of deprivation of support or care of a parent or living with a specified relative, to be eligible for assistance. To be eligible, the child will:

• be under 18 years of age.

• be age 18 through age 19 and attending high school or a high school equivalency full time.

• have countable income and resources available or deemed as available to the child that does not exceed the TANF medical assistance limits in Chapter 600, Standards and Budgets.

• meet Medicaid Administration Bureau (MAB) disability criteria specified in Item 903(d) of the Medical Assistance Manual.

• have parental or guardian approval to undergo medical treatment recommended by MAB, unless good cause exists (see Item 903 of the Medical Assistance Manual.
