MEAD PROTECTED EARNED INCOME (EI) RESOURCES SR 08-27, 01/09 (FAM-A)

MEAD Protected Earned Income (EI) Resources are liquid resources, including interest earned by the resources, accumulated solely from earnings by a MEAD-eligible individual while on MEAD and kept in a separate account from other liquid resources.

Treatment:

• A countable resource for recipients of MEAD.

• Exclude for the non-MEAD categories of medical assistance as long as the resource is kept in a separate account and not mixed with any other funds.

Exception: Count all Protected EI Resources if deposits are made after MEAD eligibility ends, or during the MEAD-eligible individual’s MEAD extension due to unemployment.
