617.01 One-Month Spenddown SR 94-04, 04/94 (FAM-A)

Calculate a one-month spenddown:

1.  Determine actual monthly case net income. Follow the steps in Part 611.01, Computing Eligibility.

2.  Subtract the protected income level (PIL) according to group size from net case income.

3.  The difference is the assistance groups monthly spenddown amount.

4.  Take all known changes into account before opening the assistance group for In and Out medical assistance and if necessary, recalculate the monthly spenddown amount.

5.  Offset the monthly spenddown by allowable medical expenses. See Section 603.09, Other Allowable Deductions.

Eligibility begins on the day the assistance groups allowable medical expenses equal or offset the monthly spenddown and continues through the last day of that month, provided the assistance group continues to meet all eligibility requirements.
