Individuals who die while receiving TANF financial assistance are eligible for payment of their expenses which meet both criteria below:

• were incurred during that part of the month which preceded the death, and

• would have been paid had the individual lived to access and use the assistance payment (i.e., expenses which were included in the individuals shelter or basic maintenance allowance).

• Remain in the EBT cash account at the time of death;

• Were issued via a paper check and the check cannot be delivered; or

• Were issued via a paper check and the check remains uncashed at the time of the individuals death.
