905 LENGTH OF ELIGIBILITY SR 14-34, /97 (FAM-A)

Child care eligibility is determined for a specific period of time, called a certification period. Families are notified when it is time to redetermine their eligibility. If the family fails to complete the redetermination process by the end of the certification period, child care will close with no additional notification. *T individual must reapply and be determined eligible for child care services again.

The month of application is the first month of the eligibility period, regardless of what day of the month the individual applies. The eligibility period begins on the day the application is received.

Example: If an application for child care is received May 26 and is approved, the eligibility period begins May 26 and must end no later than April 30 of the following year.

The eligibility period must not exceed 12 months.

Exceptions:

• Adjust the eligibility period to coincide with the most frequent redetermination/recertification of eligibility required by other programs if the household receives another program of assistance in addition to child care assistance (see PART 161, REDETERMINATION/RECERTIFICATION).

• Cases eligible for the online or mail-in redetermination/recertification process are not required to participate in a face-to-face interview (see Section 161.01, Timely Notice).
