925.03 Continued Eligibility for Training/Education and Basic Education SR 17-12 Dated 07/17 (FAM-A)

_____________________________________________________________

*Parents are now allowed continued eligibility during the 12 month eligibility certification period for training or education as long as the parent is considered currently enrolled in a training or educational program by the institution, even when the parent is not actively participating in the approved training or educational activity. There is no time limit for these circumstances during the 12 month eligibility period. In order to provide continuity of care for the child, Child Care Scholarship payment will be made when the child attends the child care program or was scheduled to attend and had absentee hours available for payment.

For example, a parent is in a training or educational program but was in a car accident and will be out of school on a six month medical leave. The educational institution considers the parent currently enrolled but on a medical leave from school. The parent continues to be eligible for Child Care Scholarship while remaining in a training or educational program. The child care provider may bill for Child Care Scholarship payment even though the parent is not actively participating in the training or educational program.

The level of service authorized for the individual at the initial eligibility determination will remain the same for the 12 month eligibility period, unless the parent(s) requests a change, even when the parent is not actively participating in their training or educational activity.

The family cost share and service level are re-evaluated at each redetermination, where they can increase, decrease, or remain the same.

The child(ren) must continue to attend child care even when the parent is not actively participating in a training or educational activity for payment to be made to the child care provider.
