125.09 Time Frames for Expedited Service (FSM)

SR 11-09 Dated 01/11

Previous Policy

_____________________________________________________________

*Generate a Notice of Decision (NOD) to the individual as soon as an eligibility determination is made, but no later than the seventh calendar day after the application date.

Eligible individuals must receive their Food Stamp benefits as soon as possible, but no later than 7 calendar days after the application date.

Exceptions:

• If the interview is done by telephone and the application must be mailed to the individual for signature, do not count the mailing time and the time the application is in the individuals possession in the time frames.

• If the individual was entitled to expedited service on the date of application but the situation was not discovered until later, expedited service time frames begin on the date the situation is discovered.

• If the individual applied at an SSA office as a pure SSI household, expedited service time frames for delivery of Food Stamp benefits begin the day the correct District Office receives the application. Determine eligibility and allotment amounts, however, based on the date the individual filed the application at the SSA office.

• If the individual meets the expedited service criteria but cannot provide proof of identity and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) worker cannot prove identity through documentation or collateral contacts, the expedited service time frames do not begin until the date the postponed proof of identity is provided.
