.the non-citizen meets: � the definition of qualified alien; and � all other food stamp eligibility requirements. |
.the qualified alien also falls under the parameters of one of the following categories: |
.the qualified alien is eligible for food stamp benefits. |

Unrestricted category: � a lawfully admitted permanent resident (LPR) with 40 qualifying quarters; � an elderly individual born on or before 8/22/31; � children under 18 who were lawfully residing in the U.S. on 8/22/96; � blind or disabled individuals; � an individual involved in active military service or a veteran (and spouses and children); or � an individual who has lived in the U.S. for 5 years from their date of entry with the status of qualified alien. |
.on an unrestricted basis. |

Restricted category: � Refugee; � Asylee; � Individuals whose deportation has been withheld; � Cuban or Haitian entrant; or � Amerasian immigrant. |
.during the first seven years they are admitted or granted status. |
