813 FOOD STAMP WORK REGISTRATION SR 00-38, 12/00 (FSM-A)

Food Stamp applicants and recipients aged 16 to 60 must be registered to participate in the Job Search Program, unless exempt for one of the reasons listed in FSM 809, EXEMPTIONS FROM FOOD STAMP WORK REQUIREMENTS, according to the following criteria:

. All nonexempt individuals must be work registered prior to certification.

. Register each nonexempt household member present at the interview.

. Register all nonexempt household members who are absent from the interview if the applicant can provide the required information. If the applicant cannot provide the required information, explain that absent nonexempt members must be registered for job search within 10 calendar days from the application date.

. Expedited cases: Register individuals as above with this difference: Absent members should be registered within expedited time frames. Do not penalize individuals for failing to meet expedited time frames.

. Review an individual's job search registration status under any of the following circumstances:

- recertification;

- loss of exemption from work program requirements;

- change in income or employment;

- change in household composition or residence; or

- at least once every 12 months.
