813 FOOD STAMP WORK REGISTRATION SR 97-19, 06/97 (FSM-A)

Register individuals for work according to the following criteria using Form 213, Interagency Referral/Work Registration.

. Use a separate Form 213 for each nonexempt household member present at the interview.

. Register all nonexempt household members who are absent from the interview if the applicant can provide the required information. If the applicant cannot provide the required information, issue a separate Form 213 for each absent member. Explain that these forms must be completed, signed, and returned to the District Office within 10 calendar days from the date issued.

. Expedited cases: Register individuals as above with this difference: Form 213 for absent members should be completed and returned within expedited time frames. Do not penalize individuals for failing to meet expedited time frames.

. Review an individual's work registration status under any of the following circumstances:

- Recertification;

- Loss of exemption from work registration;

- Change in income or employment;

- Change in household composition or residence; or

- At least once every 12 months.

. Recertification: Issue a new Form 213 for the individual to complete if the old one is due to expire during the new certification period. The new form must be completed, signed, and returned prior to expiration of the old one.
