Individuals participating in job search—including volunteers—are entitled to reimbursements for support services according to the following criteria:
• Child care reimbursement is allowed for up to 40 days in any 6 month period. Reimbursed child care costs may not also be used for a child care deduction; and
• Transportation reimbursement is available at a rate $.21 per mile for private or commercial transportation.
• $10 per month may be claimed for expenses with no requirement to provide verification. An initial $10 payment may be advanced to individuals who would otherwise be unable to begin a job search period.
• A maximum of $25 per month is allowed for expenses such as transportation or other costs that are reasonably necessary and directly related to participation in job search. Requests for reimbursements greater than $10 must be accompanied by receipts for the entire expense up to $25.
• Do not deny an individual reimbursement because they discontinued the program within the first 2 weeks, as long as they incurred expenses directly related to participation in job search.
• Volunteers for supervised job search are entitled to reimbursement for as long as they continue to participate in job search.
