169.01 Open Individuals Who Report New or Increased Earnings (MAM)

Individuals with SSI benefits who report new or increased earnings may be eligible for extended medical assistance due to Section 1619 status.

1. If the earned income will result in terminating medical assistance eligibility, determine if the individual has advised SSA and if SSA has made a decision about Section 1619 status.

2. If the individual is certified under Section 1619, extend medical assistance indefinitely.

3. If Section 1619 status is pending or the individual has not notified SSA, terminate medical assistance. Advise the individual to reapply for medical assistance if Section 1619 status is received.

Exception: Automatic continued Medicaid coverage due to Section 1619 Status does not apply to individuals who were open for TANF cash and/or medical assistance in the month prior to being certified by SSA as Section 1619 Status.
