169 EXTENDED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE DUE TO SECTION 1619 STATUS (MAM) |
Previous Policy |
____________________________________________________________
Individuals may receive extended medical assistance for an indefinite period, without regard to income, resources, or medical eligibility, if all of the following criteria are met:
Social Security Administration (SSA) certifies the individual under Section 1619 of the Social Security Act, and
the individual received medical assistance in the month prior to the month SSA certifies the individual under Section 1619.
Exception: Automatic continued Medicaid coverage due to Section 1619 Status does not apply to individuals who were open for FANF cash and/or medical assistance in the month prior to being certified by SSA as Section 1619 Status.
SSA determines who is certified under Section 1619 and notifies DHHS. The District Office then determines if the individual was receiving medical assistance in the prior month. If the individual was receiving medical assistance in the prior month, the individual remains eligible for extended medical assistance until SSA terminates 1619 status.
