The Qualified Disabled and Working Individual (QDWI) Program provides limited medical assistance coverage that pays the Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) premium of disabled working individuals who have lost Medicare due to earnings.
To be eligible for assistance under QDWI, applicants:
. must be entitled to enroll in Medicare Part A;
. must be disabled and working and have lost Medicare coverage due to earnings;
. cannot be eligible for benefits from any other medical assistance program;
. cannot have income that exceeds 200% of the current federal poverty level;
. cannot have resources that are more than twice the SSI limit; and
. must meet all general non-financial requirements of eligibility for medical assistance.
