301.11 Medicaid-Only Residency: Transient Individuals (MAM) |
Previous Policy |
__________________________________________________________________
Transient individuals who seek work in another state may claim one particular state as a state of residence, or they may establish residency in the new state.
Examples
• A migrant worker works in several states each year, including New Hampshire. This individual may keep New Hampshire as a state of residence, or may change residency upon entering each new state.
• An individual has a parent in the military service. Although the assistance group lives in California because of the parent’s work assignment, the assistance group maintains New Hampshire as a state of residence for payroll and tax purposes. The assistance group may choose California as state of residence because of the parent’s job commitment, or it may choose New Hampshire as state of residence because it considers New Hampshire the place of permanent residence.
