ALIEN SPONSOR'S RESOURCES (MAM)

Liquid resources of an alien's sponsor or sponsor's spouse, including bank accounts, stocks, bonds, and savings certificates, are considered available to the alien applying for benefits:

. Count or exclude the sponsor's resources and that of their spouse as if they were applying for the same category of assistance for which the alien applies.

. Deem liquid resources of an alien's sponsor or sponsor's spouse for 3 years from the date the alien entered the US.

. Compute the total countable resources of the sponsor and the sponsor's spouse.

. Subtract $1,500.

. Count the remaining balance as available to the alien.

Exception: Liquid resources such as vehicles and nonessential household items are not considered available.

Treatment: Countable Resource
