509 VERIFICATION (MAM)

Income for medical assistance groups is verified through electronic data crossmatches based upon self-attestation and/or what the applicant or recipient has provided about income during the eligibility process. Proof of income is only required to maintain eligibility if there is a discrepancy between what the applicant/recipient reported and the electronic data crossmatch and/or for special categories of assistance, like Extended MA, in which the applicant may need to provide more verification for a longer period of time than the applicant provided during the application process and/or could be verified electronically.

Exception for both MAGI and non-MAGI categories of medical assistance: If a recipient is reporting a change in earned income during the period prior to a regularly scheduled redetermination, verification requirements are different. See:

• PART 145, CHANGES THAT INCREASE BENEFITS; or

• PART 147, CHANGES THAT DECREASE BENEFITS.
