ROOMER INCOME (MAM)

Payments made by an individual who is provided room but not food and is living in the assistance group’s home.

Treatment: Unearned Income

Treat roomer income as unearned income even if it is the result of a bona fide business or an informal arrangement. Manually reduce roomer income by the greater of:

• a flat rate of $50 per month for each roomer; or

• actual expenses if claimed and verified.
