617 BUDGETING: MAGI (MAM) |
Previous Policy |
____________________________________________________________
When computing income for assistance groups requesting the MAGI categories of medical assistance, first determine who is included in the household composition of each member of the assistance group in accordance with PART 259, COMPOSTION OF MAGI ASSISTANCE GROUPS. Each member of the assistance group may have a different household composition and household size. Who is included in each member's household composition determines whose income will count towards that member's income eligibility. The number of members in each individual's household composition determines the member's household size and income limit.
Once each individual's household composition is determined, use the following steps to compute income separately for each individual in the assistance group:
1. Add the countable gross earned income and unearned income for each member of the individual's household composition.
2. Subtract any allowable deductions from individual's combined countable gross earned income and unearned income in accordance with PART 605, DEDUCTIONS, to obtain total net income.
3. Compare each individual's total net income to the appropriate income limit for each individual's household size.
If the individual's total net income exceeds the appropriate income limit, then determine potential In and Out eligibility. See PART 625, In and Out Medical Assistance.
