707.03 Mailing Addresses (MAM) |
Previous Policy |
___________________________________________________________
If Notices of Decision (NOD) are mailed, the casehead’s home address is used for the mailing address and the US Postal Service (USPS) delivers the mail. A post office box or a general delivery address may be used as the mailing address instead of the casehead’s home address, if one of the following is true:
• home delivery of mail is not available where the casehead lives; or
• mail pilferage is an extensive problem in the casehead’s area.
Determine whether the casehead has a valid reason for use of a post office box or general delivery address. Accept any document or collateral contact that reasonably establishes the need.
Verify continued need for a post office box or general delivery address at every determination and redetermination.
See Chapter 300 for information about the mailing address used when the individual or household is homeless.
