715.15 Who is Eligible for Part B Buy-In? (MAM) |

To be eligible for Part B buy-in, an individual must be eligible for Medicare Part B and be one of the following:
. Recipient of financial assistance under:
- Title IV-E (foster care or adoption subsidy);
- Title IV-A (TANF). Consider a TANF individual to be a recipient of financial assistance even when the $10 minimum grant requirement prevents a check from being issued; or
- Old Age Assistance (OAA), Aid to the Permanently and Totally Disabled (APTD), or Aid to the Needy Blind (ANB).
. Recipient of categorically needy medical assistance (non-nursing facility resident), and one of the following:
- Receives SSI (Title XVI);
- Meets Pickle Amendment criteria;
- Certified as 1619(b) by Social Security Administration (SSA); or
- Entitled to the 1972 20% SSA benefit increase deduction.
. Recipient of categorically needy medical assistance (nursing facility resident), and meets all of the following:
- Resides in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, intermediate care facility, or a nursing facility which receives payment for that individual through Medicaid; and
- Receives SSI payments; and
- Receives $20 or less per month in income other than SSI.
. Recipient of the Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB) program, or SLMB135 Program. SLMB and SLMB135 provide for payment of the monthly Part B premium when a recipient meets all QMB requirements except income; or
. Recipient of the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) program.
