Glossary M-words (MAM)

Medicare Savings Program (MSP) — The umbrella term used to refer to the following medical assistance programs as a group: Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB), Specified Low Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB & SLMB135), and Qualified Disabled and Working Individual (QDWI) programs.

Minor Parent — an individual under age 18 who has a dependent child.

Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) —MAGI is a method for determining how income is counted, whose income is counted (the budget group), and the income limit based on the size of the budget group, for certain categories of medical assistance.

Month of application — The month in which the completed and signed application is received by the Department.
