221 FORMER FOSTER CARE CHILD MEDICAL ASSISTANCE SR 14-04 Dated 01/14

*Former Foster Care Child medical assistance (MA) is a Medicaid eligibility category that uses Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) in the eligibility determination process. Former Foster Care Child MA is automatically provided to former foster care children, defined as children who:

were in foster care and enrolled in Medicaid as of the age of 18, as confirmed by the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF);

are now over age 18 but under age 26, including individuals who are currently under the age of 26 who were terminated from foster care when they turned 18; and

are not eligible for any other category of medical assistance.

Although this group is considered a MAGI Medicaid category, there are no income or resource tests for Former Foster Care Child MA, and these individuals are always a household size of one.
