NH DHHS Announces May 29th Public Meeting In Keene On Proposed Therapeutic Cannabis Dispensary

Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has announced a public meeting regarding a proposed Alternative Treatment Center (ATC) therapeutic cannabis dispensary in Keene, NH, to be operated by Temescal Wellness. This proposed dispensary location is responsive to Legislative intent and designed to increase patient access to the State’s Therapeutic Cannabis Program (TCP).

The public meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 29th, at the Keene Ice Center, Blastos Room, 380 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH 03431. During the public meeting, officials from the DHHS Therapeutic Cannabis Program and representatives from Temescal Wellness will make brief presentations and answer attendees’ questions.

In 2018, the NH Legislature enacted SB388, which allowed for second dispensary therapeutic cannabis locations in two areas of the State where access to one of the four established ATCs is limited. The new dispensaries will be operated by Temescal Wellness in Region 3 (representing Cheshire and Sullivan counties) and Sanctuary ATC in Region 4 (representing Carroll, Coos and Grafton counties). The Region 3 dispensary currently operated by Temescal Wellness is in Lebanon.

As part of SB388, DHHS was required to conduct a patient needs assessment to determine locations that would have the greatest impact on patient access. The needs assessment identified the Keene area as a location that would best alleviate the travel burden on TCP patients in Region 3. Information on the needs assessment is included in the Therapeutic Cannabis Program 2018 Data Report.
