NH DoIT and DHHS Recognized for Exemplary Work in Health and Human Services in 2024 Digital States Survey
Concord, NH – The State of New Hampshire is one of three states to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award for exemplary work in Health and Human Services in the Center for Digital Government’s 2024 Digital States Survey, a biennial evaluation of technology practices in all 50 states. The award reflects the achievements of the NH Department of Information Technology (DoIT) and DoIT’s partnership with the NH Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
The Center for Digital Government recognized New Hampshire for the State’s efforts to improve its technology infrastructure and security features, a commitment to transparency, and an enhanced and consistent web presence. These achievements have enabled the State’s workforce to focus on customer service and strategic goals. The State’s most significant technological achievement has been establishing relationships with local, state and county government; schools; technology advisory sources; the private sector, other states; and most importantly, the residents of New Hampshire.
“This is an incredible achievement and is the result of a lot of hard work,” said DoIT Commissioner Denis Goulet. “We are so proud and honored to see that all of our efforts toward aligning services and enabling digital transformation is producing real results and is being recognized at a national level. This is something that all of New Hampshire can celebrate.
The Digital States Survey annually surveys state government technology solutions to celebrate the “best and emerging practices by states that are committed to meeting today's needs and tomorrow's expectations.” New Hampshire is among 23 states that earned top grades in 2024, marking the third time in the past four years that the State has won a Digital States Survey award. The honor reflects the State’s commitment to continuously enhancing technology services through steady and strategic improvement.
“This award reflects the State’s desire to improve our residents’ customer service experiences when engaging with government agencies,” said DHHS Commissioner Lori Weaver. “At DHHS and across the State of New Hampshire, we understand that government can better serve constituents when we partner together. The collaborative efforts recognized by the Center for Digital Government are the key to our success. We are proud of our dedicated teams, their accomplishments and their commitment to excellent customer service.”
The Outstanding Achievement Award for exemplary work in Health and Human Services was accomplished by focusing on a “One Team” approach for the State’s Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS). This approach enabled DHHS to realize significant service and operational efficiencies for the Medicaid program. As an example, when a new law was enacted in July 2022 that ensures dental benefits to more than 120,000 adult Medicaid recipients, the State rapidly and successfully rolled out the “New Hampshire Smiles Program for Adults” in April 2023 to allow more than 120,000 adult Medicaid recipients to immediately begin to receive dental benefits.
