New Hampshire Radioactive Materials Program

The New Hampshire Radioactive Materials Program is responsible for all regulation of radioactive material within the state except for uses involving power generation at the Seabrook Station and uses at federal facilities.

New Hampshire is an Agreement State with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission and is responsible for all regulation of radiation within the state except for on-site activities at the Seabrook Station nuclear power plant and at federal facilities. Licensees are subject to the requirements contained in the New Hampshire Rules for the Control of Radiation (Chapter 4000), and are inspected for compliance with these rules.

Licensing guidance is available for but not limited to: medical uses, portable gauges, and industrial radiography.  Contact the Radioactive Materials Program for specific guidance.

All applications, supplements and supporting documents are to be submitted to the Radiological Health Section in accordance with He-P 4030.01(c) of the New Hampshire Rules for the Control of Radiation.
